First win for Lemmings; Storm in the cup; Falcons anguish
The Jags recorded their second win in Div 1 when they overcame Basingstoke Blizzards by 19 at Wellington College in a rehearsal of the Karl Taylor Cup on Tuesday 19th to be played at Basingstoke.
The Lemmings recorded their first win of the season after a run of near-misses when they overcame Kennet Kingfishers by 4 at Wellington College. They now face two games in two days with a Div 2 game against the King Cobras on Tuesday 19th followed by Slough Scorpions away on Wednesday 20th in the Karl Taylor Plate.
The Falcons were ahead for much of the game against Woodley Greenflash before a late rally gave Woodley the lead at the death. Dan Sinclair’s 3 on the buzzer took his total to 36 but he could not draw the foul on the shot which could have resulted in an overtime-forcing free-throw. Falcons are at home on Tuesday 19th in the Karl Taylor Plate against Wolfpack Mohegans.
The Suns beat Farnborough Phantoms 51-26 in the league before losing to their sister side the Storm in the cup. Next up the Suns face Yateley away in the league on Sunday 24th.
The Storm lost 37-43 to Aldworth Arrows in the ladies’ division 1 before getting back on track with a win against the Suns in the cup. Next up for the Storm is a Wessex Regional League East game on Tuesday 19th at Wellington College against Woking Blackhawk Ladies.
The Surrey Scorchers are at home on Sunday against former Bracknell and Guildford coach Paul James.
The Plymouth Raiders are at the Surrey Sports Park at 2pm on Sunday 17th.
