Match summary:
The final score line does not tell the whole story of this very entertaining game. The previous Thursday the Falcons enjoyed a two-hour training session and for the first time this season the players took the work they had done at training onto the court and trailed by just 2 points with 11 minutes to go in the game. Things went pear shaped as the team conceded 8 quick points in the final minute of the third and then the final quarter was lost 9-20.
Key stats:
The Falcons broke 40 points again and made 86% from the charity stripe, however they lost concentration as they let a 32-28 lead disappear in quick time when Woodley shot from range including three 3-pointers in the third period.
Coach Walker’s assessment:
This was one of the most enjoyable games I have coached since taking over the reins with the Falcons. Just two hours of training resulted in offensive plays working, a variety of defensive systems being operated and a number of set plays coming off. The team needs to be together for more training sessions as it will result in everyone enjoying games far more.
Next games:
Thursday 28th March 2019 at 8:15pm away to Woodley Jets in Division 3 followed on Tuesday 2nd April Tuesday by the visit of Woking Blackhawks to Wellington. The final game of the season is at home to Woodley Greenflash on Tuesday 9th April.
