Bracknell Cobras 2 40 – Aztecs Falcons 35
(12-12; 22-16; 31-25; 40-35)
Leading scorers:
Iain Rogers 12; Paul Howard 8; Becky Wellington/Matt Blowfield 6
Match summary:
This was a very disappointing result, with the Falcons once again competing well with the opposition but conceding 10 points in six minutes of the second period without reply. Although the Aztecs 3s got back in the match to be down by just two points in the final period they could not force the victory their commitment deserved.
Key stats:
Only four points were scored by the Falcons in the second session, but in 34 minutes of the game the team actually beat the Cobras 35-30. In addition to top scoring for the Aztecs, Iain Rogers worked tirelessly in the paint and rebounded strongly. Matt Blowfield played well driving at the opposition and drawing several fouls. Two key stats were that only 35 points were scored in the game (the target is to get more than 40 in every match) and only 3 of 11 foul shots were made (the target is 50% as a minimum).
Coach Walker’s assessment:
This was, sadly, a match it might be best to forget. The Falcons put together several outstanding team moves, and there was some excellent defence at times, but the performance was disappointing and the result even more so. Turn-overs at key times and crucial missed shots once again overshadowed the positive things the team achieved.
Next game:
Tuesday 19th February 2019 at 7:30pm at home to Kingfishers in Division 3.
