Saturday 6th October 2018 ~ Wessex Mens Division 3
Kennet Kingfishers 73 ~ Aztecs Falcons 46
(11-13; 32-26; 46-35; 73-46)
Leading scorers:
Paul Howard 13; Dimi Noltsis 12; Matt Blowfield 10
Match summary:
A tough Saturday afternoon for the Falcons in Kennet, conceding seven 3-pointers as they lost by 27, a very disappointing result after winning their first game of the season just four days earlier. The Falcons scored 13, 13, 9 and 11 points in each period, and were up after the first period but were out-gunned thereafter.
Key stats:
Paul Howard and Dimi Noltsis, making their first appearances for the Falcons, scored well, backed up by 10 from Matt Blowfield who continued his excellent start to the season.
Coach Rogers’s assessment:
We were quite competitive in the first half, winning the first period and trailing by just six at the turn, but Kennet’s fitness told in the second half, and their superior firepower won the day as they secured the second half 41-20. This was disappointing after the fine win earlier in the week, but the team did not give up and played hard to the final buzzer.
Next game:
Friday 19th October away to Craftsmen LT Utd of the 1st Division in the Karl Taylor Cup.
