Wessex Men’s Division 3 League
Aztec Falcons 45 – Farnborough Shadows 72
(6-18; 15-21; 11-16; 13-17)
Leading scorers:
Ollie Horne 12; Tim Tostevin 10; Matt Sawyer and Becky Wellington 6
Match summary:
The Falcons went down to Farnborough losing each period, although the score was just 5 all when the Shadows hit their straps and put in 1 devastating 134-1 spell that killed the home team and left the Falcons literally chasing shadows! The remaining three sessions were lost by just 6 , 5 and 4 points. To be fair the Falcons still fought hard and kept in touch until another period of dominance saw the visitors score 11 unanswered points in the final session.
Key stats:
The foul count continued to fall and 8 of the 9 players scored, but the foul shooting was frustrating once again, with just 4 of 12 efforts hitting the mark. Ollie Horne continued his good scoring run netting a dozen and Tim Tostevin was on form again getting double figures for the second time this season.
Coach Purvey’s assessment:
We missed too many shots and the defence needs to be tighter. Some of the fouls were unnecessary, and often the result of players trying to make up for the turn-overs, which were frustratingly frequent.
